So had a bit more of a look and a wire was broken on the egr valve so mended that but still no better, so have now fitted a blanking plate on the egr but still no better. Only way to clear it is to switch engine off and restart. This clears the fault and the turbo works again until the fault reappears. The issue only seems to happen when I go on bypass/motorway. Haven't had the fault happen unless above 70mph so unsure about the sensor as to whether it made a difference or not. Quote.

You may have a problem not being able to regen at all even forced if your up stream HC doser isn't working or the injector is coked shut. You need to make a certain amount of heat in a certain amount of time in order to regen and if enough heat is NOT made in the early stage of a regen then it won't complete one and keep adding to the ash counter.
